We believe that the power of friendship can work wonders. The Amigos, university student volunteers for the Amigos for children Foundation, support hospitalized kids in 6 locations across Hungary through friendship and fun language learning. Over the years, the organisation has grown from a group of 11 friends to a nationwide community of hundreds of volunteers, but its essential values—reliability, consistency, and teamwork—have stayed constant. Being in hospital makes life difficult for the children: they miss school, they are away from their friends, they face a scary situation and an illness or an operation. Amigo sessions are designed to give kids back control over their everyday lives, socialize with their peers, have fun through playing and learning a new language while receiving encouragement and inspiration.
